The HUDA team led by Sarvesh Joon worked for three consecutive days to clear the water from the perennial trouble spot on NH-8. To chart a strategy to avert waterlogging at Hero Honda Chowk, officials from NHAI, Gurgaon traffic police, HUDA and DSC Ltd held a meeting on Thursday. “The HUDA team brought a 500-metre-long pipe to flow the rainwater to Khandsa drain thereby ensuring that the water flowed directly to the drain without affecting any other road,” said a HUDA official. After Thursday’s meeting it has been decided that the new pump will be kept at the site and DS Construction has been asked to make arrangement for power. The HUDA administrator, Praveen Kumar, and other officials had visited the site on Monday night and it was decided that a pump with a higher capacity needs to be installed. The special pump with capacity of 4,000 litres per minutes was procured by the HUDA team to clear the water. A spokesperson of DSC said: “There was a meeting on Thursday on Hero Honda Chowk issue among the concessionaire, police and HUDA. It has been decided that HUDA will provide a water pump at the site while DSC has been asked to make arrangements for generator for its working.” Upkeep and clearing of waterlogging at Hero Honda Chowk has always been a bone of contention between NHAI and the expressway concessionaire. HUDA officials claimed that the mess at Hero Honda Chowk was due the dysfunctional pumps provided by the NHAI which are used by DS Construction.
